After a 10-month hiatus from the competitive Dota 2 scene, Team Tidebound has officially confirmed its return for the 2026-2027 season. The organization, which had been inactive since December 2025 following a seventh-eighth place finish at The International 2025, is rebuilding with a blend of familiar faces and new talent under the guidance of veteran coach Ning “xiao8” Zhang. This announcement, shared via the organization’s official Weibo account, marks a significant moment in the ongoing post-TI 2026 roster shuffle within the Chinese professional scene.

The New Lineup

This roster move sees four players return to the organization they represented at The International 2025. The core includes carry Xuanang “Shiro” Guo, mid laner Cheng “NothingToSay” Jin Xiang, position 4 support Hao “plAnet” Lin, and position 5 support Yiping “y`” Zhang. Veteran offlaner Haiyang “Yang” Zhou, who previously competed for Team Refuser, rounds out the five-player squad.

The individual players have navigated various organizational changes over the past year. Coach xiao8 and NothingToSay both last competed for Xtreme Gaming. Xiao8 departed that organization before The International 2026, while NothingToSay was released in early September following the team’s failure to advance from the group stage of the tournament. Shiro and y` arrive at Tidebound from Vici Gaming, an organization that disbanded after an early exit during the TI 2026 elimination stage. Furthermore, position 4 support plAnet joins following his departure from Team Resilience in late August after that team’s own elimination-stage defeat. Meanwhile, Haiyang “Yang” Zhou brings experience from Team Refuser, where he helped secure a fourth-place finish in the Chinese regional qualifier, though the team ultimately missed out on competing at TI 2026.

Why it matters

For Dota 2 fans, this roster change signals a significant shift in the competitive landscape as teams solidify their lineups for the upcoming 2026-2027 season. Tidebound is clearly betting on team synergy by reuniting a core that has already competed together at the sport’s highest level. For followers of the Chinese regional scene, this consolidation of seasoned talent into one organization will likely make them a team to watch in upcoming qualifiers and tournaments.

While the roster is now set, the organization has yet to announce the specific tournament schedule for their debut. Players and analysts will be watching closely to see if this veteran-heavy lineup can recapture their past momentum and successfully navigate the challenges of the 2026-2027 competitive circuit. The return of Tidebound serves as a reminder of how quickly rosters fluctuate following the conclusion of The International, as teams look to establish dominance in the new campaign.
