Gears of War: E-Day launches on 6 October 2026. Use this checklist to choose how you will play and prepare your group.

Plan Horde roles and your exit condition

The Coalition’s multiplayer breakdown lists Assault, Breacher, Marksman and Medic. Blitz targets roughly 15–20 minutes, Siege 20–40, and Horde up to 50–60. Keeping earned Weapon Parts requires at least one squad member to extract successfully.

For your first group session, choose a playlist that fits the shortest availability in the party. Discuss who wants to fight close, cover longer angles and prioritize recovery; these are useful responsibilities, not a mandatory class composition.

Before taking an optional objective, ask whether the group still has the time and resources to finish and leave. Agree on a regroup call so a scattered team can stop chasing separate fights. Treat class experiments and efficient reward farming as different goals: a learning run can be worthwhile without being the fastest route to upgrades.

These are planning recommendations based on announced systems, not a tested launch meta. Recheck the release build before relying on beta balance.

Choose your session

The campaign supports solo play, split-screen and online co-op for up to four players. Horde Siege accommodates twelve players in three squads. Versus uses four-player teams.

Prepare together

  • Agree on campaign or Horde before inviting your group; their squad structures differ.
  • For Horde, discuss the Assault, Breacher, Marksman and Medic roles before choosing a class.
  • Check the store listing for your platform and edition. Treat early access as an edition benefit, not the standard release date.
  • Leave time for installation and updates. Check official support for your platform’s current requirements.

After release

Use the opening session to adjust controls and accessibility settings. This preparation guide will need verified mission routes and performance measurements after hands-on testing.
