Team Liquid has officially finalized its competitive lineup for the 2026-2027 Dota 2 season, confirming the high-profile acquisition of former Team Falcons mid laner Stanislav “Malr1ne” Potorak. As detailed by Esports Insider, this strategic signing follows the departure of long-standing mid laner Michał “Nisha” Jankowski, who opted to take a break from professional competition in late September. The arrival of Malr1ne serves as the final piece in a broader restructuring effort for the organization as it looks to rebound from its most recent campaign.
The transition marks a significant shift in the team’s composition. Prior to the addition of Malr1ne, Team Liquid moved to secure Adrian “Wisper” Cespedes Dobles to fill the offlaner role, replacing previous starter Marcus “Ace” Hoelgaard. With these adjustments now confirmed, the finalized roster for the upcoming 2026-2027 circuit consists of carry Micke “miCKe” Vu, mid laner Malr1ne, offlaner Wisper, and supports Samuel “Boxi” Svahn and Erik “tOfu” Engel. William “BlitZ” Lee will continue to lead the unit from the coach’s position.
Reporting originally surfaced via GosuGamers on October 15, highlighting Malr1ne’s status as a highly sought-after free agent. Malr1ne became available in early September following the announcement from Team Falcons that the organization was withdrawing from competitive Dota 2. He joins the Liquid squad with a decorated track record, most notably as a champion of The International 2025. According to the reporting, he also brings experience from eight additional Tier 1 tournament victories. Analysts cited in the report noted that Malr1ne is viewed as one of the rare talents in the professional scene capable of matching the impact previously provided by Nisha.
Why it matters
This roster overhaul arrives after a season of mixed results for Team Liquid. While the team celebrated notable successes, including victories at BLAST Slam VI in February and 1win Essence II in early August, the campaign concluded with a fifth-sixth-place finish at The International 2026. This performance prompted the organization to engage in a wider post-TI roster shuffle, ultimately resulting in the replacements of both the mid and offlane positions.
For fans and followers of the professional Dota 2 scene, the next few weeks are critical for evaluating the new team dynamic. The updated lineup is scheduled to make its competitive debut at PARI Universe, an online Tier 1 tournament. The event is slated to run from October 22 through November 1, providing the first opportunity to observe the chemistry between the new recruits and the established core as they embark on the new competitive season.
