Ahead of the highly anticipated November 4 launch of World of Warcraft: Forever, a new leak circulating online has sparked speculation regarding potential post-launch content. According to a report from Game Rant, information surfacing from 4chan alleges that an expansion titled Shadows of Lordaeron is in the works.

Potential Expansion Details

The leak suggests that Shadows of Lordaeron could be offered at three different price tiers—$30, $60, and $90. If the rumor holds true, the expansion would introduce two new playable races: Worgen for the Alliance and Darkfallen Elves for the Horde. Additionally, the leak claims the content drop would feature a new zone in Gilneas, two raids titled Vault of Origins and The Cursed Throne, two dungeons named Manor Mistmantle and Farholde Catacombs, and a legendary weapon quest for an item called Elarathil, Branch of Eternity.

While the concept of an expansion themed around Lordaeron aligns with interest in the franchise’s lore, the report notes that these claims should be viewed with skepticism. Blizzard has previously stated an intention to avoid adding retail WoW classes to the “Classic Plus” style experience of Forever, and the inclusion of paid races remains a contentious topic among players following the feedback regarding the Skyborne elves.

Why it matters

For players, this leak highlights the potential future content roadmap for the game, which is launching with a heavy emphasis on horizontal progression and alt-friendly gameplay via a Legacy System. With nearly 9 million characters created during the beta phase, the community is clearly eager to see how the game’s meta evolves. If these new races are eventually introduced, they could significantly shift current class and race popularity, particularly as players look for fresh ways to engage with the game’s leveling and exploration focus.

World of Warcraft: Forever is scheduled to go live on November 4 at 3 pm PST. Players should keep an eye on official Blizzard channels to verify if any of these rumored updates align with the developer’s actual long-term plans, especially as the studio looks ahead to additional features like a Hardcore mode tentatively planned for Winter 2026.
