AI-Generated GTA 6 Clips Are Drawing Millions of Views—and Confusing Fans
AI-made GTA VI clips are pulling millions of views; here is how to tell them apart from Rockstar's official footage.

AI-generated clips presented as Grand Theft Auto VI footage are spreading across social platforms and attracting millions of views. The videos fill the long gaps between official Rockstar Games releases, but their presentation can make it hard for casual viewers to tell fan-made or synthetic material apart from authentic footage. With GTA VI now set for November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the volume of fake clips is only likely to grow as launch approaches.
Why the clips spread
GTA VI draws exceptional interest, and generative-video tools now make convincing-looking city scenes, car chases and character shots cheap and fast to produce. Social platform algorithms then reward quick, sensational posts, even when the footage is unofficial or misleading. A clip that looks like a leaked mission can travel much further than the correction that follows it.
The risk is not simply low-quality fan content. Unlabeled synthetic clips can be reposted without context, cited as “leaks,” and mistaken for Rockstar material long after the original creator explains how they were made. Some accounts also use the clips to push fake release dates, fake PC announcements or links to scam “beta” downloads.
What Rockstar has actually released
The official footage list is short, which makes it easy to check against. Rockstar revealed the game with Trailer 1 in December 2023, followed by Trailer 2 on May 6, 2025. On August 27, 2026, Rockstar aired “GTA 6: An Extended Look,” a 26-minute gameplay showcase that premiered on Netflix for six hours before going up on YouTube and other platforms. It introduced protagonists Lucia and Jason and showed missions, chases and side activities around Leonida.
The release date has moved twice. Rockstar first targeted fall 2025, then delayed the game to May 26, 2026, and in November 2025 moved it again to November 19, 2026. Take-Two has since said it does not expect another delay. A PC version has not been dated.
How to spot a fake
Treat footage as official only when it appears on Rockstar Games’ verified channels, on the Rockstar Newswire, or is linked from the official GTA VI website. If a clip claims to be new gameplay, check whether Rockstar posted it first; a genuine drop is always covered by major outlets within minutes.
Look for common AI giveaways: text on signs and license plates that turns into gibberish, hands and faces that warp between frames, cars that merge into each other, lighting that changes with no source, and shots that never hold on one subject for more than a few seconds. Missing HUD elements or a user interface that does not match the Extended Look is another warning sign. Claims based only on anonymous social posts should stay clearly labeled as unverified.
Why it matters
With the biggest release of the year less than two months away, fake footage can shape expectations about the map, the story and even the launch date. Knowing that Rockstar has published two trailers and one extended gameplay showcase makes it easy to dismiss anything else presented as “official.”
For players in the GCC, where GTA VI is one of the most searched upcoming games, the safest habit is simple: check Rockstar’s own channels before sharing, and never download files that promise early access.
