Epic Games is taking cross-promotion to a new level with Fortnite’s latest Star Wars cosmetic. The Forsworn Trooper outfit can only be unlocked by riding a real Disney park attraction in person, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, an unusual way to gate in-game content.

Where the ride is

Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run is located in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, which exists at two parks: Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. The attraction is not available at Disneyland Paris or other Disney parks outside the US, so the skin can currently only be earned in those two locations.

How to unlock the Forsworn Trooper

First, link a MyDisney account to your Epic Games account. Second, install and sign in to the Disneyland app or the My Disney Experience app, depending on which park you visit. Third, accept Hondo’s Mission inside the app. Fourth, ride Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run with your phone secured and Bluetooth and location services turned on. After the ride, the outfit is granted either immediately or through a redemption code sent by email.

The skin itself is free, but players need park admission and travel to one of the two parks. There is no indication that the Forsworn Trooper will appear in the Fortnite Item Shop or Battle Pass, and no end date for the promotion has been announced.

A new kind of tie-in

This is a significant departure from how Fortnite skins are usually distributed. Rather than earning Battle Pass tiers, spending V-Bucks or completing in-game challenges, players must visit a physical park and ride a specific attraction.

The move reflects Epic’s deepening partnership with Disney, which invested $1.5 billion in Epic in 2024, and with the Star Wars franchise. Fortnite has hosted many Star Wars collaborations over the years, but linking a cosmetic directly to a real-world park visit is a first for the game’s community.

Who misses out

The requirement creates a hard gate for most players worldwide, including everyone in the Middle East, since the closest Galaxy’s Edge is in the United States. For those who can take part, the Forsworn Trooper will likely become one of the rarer Star Wars cosmetics in the game.

Why it matters

Blending physical and digital experiences is a growing trend in live-service games, and this is one of the boldest examples so far. Whether it becomes a recurring model or stays a one-off, it shows how far Epic and Disney are willing to go to connect Fortnite with the rest of Disney’s business.

For GCC players planning a US trip that includes Disneyland or Walt Disney World, setting up the app link before the visit is the only way to add this skin to a Fortnite locker.
