Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will launch with HDR10+ Gaming support and native 32:9 super ultrawide compatibility on PC. The development team worked with Samsung on these display features, and Samsung monitor owners are being offered free early access codes as part of the partnership. The game launches on October 23, 2026, with an early access campaign period from October 16 for digital pre-orders.
Release date and platforms
Modern Warfare 4 is developed by Infinity Ward, with Beenox leading the PC version. On PC it is available through Steam, Battle.net and the Xbox app, and it also launches on consoles. Preloading on PC begins on October 15 at 9 a.m. Pacific time. It will not be on Game Pass at launch, following Microsoft’s decision to add new Call of Duty games about a year after release.
PC requirements
All tiers need a 115 GB SSD and a broadband connection. The listed specs cover the full game, so players who only install some modes may need less space.
Minimum: Windows 10 64-bit, AMD Ryzen 5 1400 or Intel Core i5-6600, 8 GB RAM, and a Radeon RX 470, GeForce GTX 970 or 1060, or Intel Arc A580 with 3 GB of video memory.
Recommended, targeting 90 frames per second: Windows 11 64-bit, AMD Ryzen 5 3600 or Intel Core i7-8700K, 16 GB RAM, and a Radeon RX 6600 XT, GeForce RTX 3060 Ti or Intel Arc B580 with 8 GB of video memory.
Ray tracing ultra at upscaled 4K: Windows 11 64-bit, AMD Ryzen 7 3700X or Intel Core i7-10700K, 32 GB RAM, and a Radeon RX 9070 XT or GeForce RTX 5070 Ti with 16 GB of video memory.
Settings and features
The PC version has more than 800 customization options across graphics, gameplay, input and interface. HDR10+ adjusts brightness in real time, while 32:9 ultrawide is supported alongside other ultrawide resolutions. A PC-only enhanced field of view widens peripheral vision.
Upscaling options include NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR Redstone, Intel XeSS 3 and Filmic SMAA T2X by default. Ray tracing is available in the campaign, multiplayer and DMZ. Other features include sub-frame mouse polling for more precise aim, a built-in benchmark tool, Advanced Shader Delivery for faster startup, updates without restarting, and RICOCHET Anti-Cheat with TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot requirements.
Why it matters
HDR10+ brings better color depth and contrast than standard HDR on supported screens, and 32:9 support means super ultrawide owners get a proper image from day one instead of waiting for a patch. The modest minimum specs also keep the game playable on older PCs.
Players should check that Secure Boot and TPM 2.0 are enabled before launch day, since the anti-cheat requires them, and make sure they have 115 GB of free SSD space ready for the preload.
