Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar Games’ parent company, has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 remains on track for its November 19, 2026 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and announced a presentation called “GTA 6: An Extended Look” to build excitement ahead of launch. The company framed the showcase as a way to grow what it called “consumers’ passion and anticipation” for the game. The Extended Look has since aired, on August 27.
On schedule after two delays
The confirmation matters because GTA 6 has already slipped twice. Rockstar originally targeted fall 2025, then delayed the game to May 26, 2026 in an announcement on May 2, 2025, and moved it again on November 6, 2025 to November 19, 2026. In August 2026, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said the game would not be delayed again.
A PC version has not been announced with a date. Rockstar’s past games have typically reached PC later than consoles.
What the Extended Look showed
“GTA 6: An Extended Look” premiered on August 27 as a 26-minute gameplay showcase. It streamed exclusively on Netflix for six hours before becoming available on YouTube and other platforms later that day. Unlike the two earlier trailers, released in December 2023 and May 6, 2025, which focused on mood and tone, the Extended Look showed actual gameplay.
It introduced protagonists Lucia and Jason through a Bonnie-and-Clyde style story and showed heists, car chases, police encounters and a long list of side activities, including airboating, basketball, diving, gym workouts, jet skiing, kayaking, racing, boxing, base jumping and clubbing.
Price, editions and pre-orders
Take-Two has confirmed a standard edition at $80 and an Ultimate edition at $100. Zelnick has described pre-orders as “exceptional,” while cautioning that pre-orders can be cancelled. Take-Two also confirmed that GTA 6 will not ship on a disc: boxed retail copies contain a download code instead.
Take-Two’s approach follows how major releases typically build anticipation, through phased reveals rather than showing everything at once. Players should expect more marketing between now and November, but the key facts are already set. Anyone who has not watched the Extended Look can find it on Rockstar’s official YouTube channel, which is also the safest place to check any new footage before trusting it.
Why it matters
The key takeaway is simple: GTA 6 is not delayed, the date is November 19, and Rockstar has now shown extended gameplay rather than just trailers. For players deciding whether to pre-order, the Extended Look is the best official look at what the game plays like.
For players in the GCC, where GTA 6 is among the most anticipated releases, the digital-only boxed format and regional store pricing are the details to check before launch day.
