Where Winds Meet Anniversary Update Brings War-Torn Hutuo Region to Xbox

The anniversary update for Where Winds Meet is set to expand the experience on Xbox Series X|S, as reported by Xbox Wire. Starting November 13 (PT), players will enter the Hutuo region, a mud-and-steel warzone defined by a sixteen-year conflict and the pivotal Battle of Zhongdu Bridge.

New Campaigns and Combat Mechanics

The update centers on the themes of righteousness and the individual’s duty during times of institutional collapse. Players will navigate narrative-driven side quests featuring soldiers and displaced families while facing high-stakes combat encounters. Among the new challenges is the boss Xiao Han, whose ‘Blood-forged Super Armor’ requires players to utilize high-impact parries and stance-breaking counterstrikes. Additional bosses, Bingshen and Yelu Abuli, will demand precise spatial awareness and maneuverability.

To aid in these battles, a new Dual Spears martial art—choreographed by legendary action director Yuen Woo-ping—will be added on November 26. This system is designed to allow players to transition between light thrusts and heavy strikes without resetting attack frames.

Strategic Mini-games and Anniversary Rewards

When not on the front lines, players can engage in two new tactical board game modes: Horse Racing Chess, which places players on the board as active pieces, and Jianghu Tactics, a mode focused on positioning and character synergies.

To celebrate the anniversary, the update includes a substantial reward package. According to the reporting from Xbox Wire, players can claim over $150 worth of gifts. This includes a free outfit set of the player’s choice, 42 Resonating Melody draws, and 27 Lingering Melody draws through anniversary events.
