Old School RuneScape has deployed Menu Entry Swapper 2.0, a ground-up rewrite of the menu customization system that’s now live on mobile and the Official Client version 240.6 and up. The overhaul addresses fundamental architectural issues with the original feature that developers said couldn’t be fixed without rebuilding the entire menu system.

What’s Actually Changed

The core functionality remains the same—players can still reorder menu options, hide entries to prevent accidental clicks like pickpocketing, and customize their interface. However, the new version works on rebuilt foundations that enable several functional improvements.

Menus are now organized per-subject, meaning customizations apply to specific NPCs, objects, or interactables rather than globally. This allows you to reset individual subjects without wiping all your settings. Sub-menu entries can now be promoted directly to the top-level menu, and entries can be reordered more reliably around the “walk-here” option. You can also hide individual entries now.

The system introduces two customization layers: standard and secondary. Secondary-layer customization requires a keyboard (including on mobile for players using keyboard setups) and is accessed via shift-key.

On mobile specifically, tall menus now support swipe-scrolling instead of requiring you to drag a scroll bar. The update also fixes a bug where Examine and other unexpected menu entries would trigger on tap or left-click.

Most previous menu customizations will migrate automatically, though some adjustments involving “walk-here” will need manual reconfiguration. Settings save per-device and don’t carry over between them. Third-party clients remain unaffected.

Why This Matters

Menu Entry Swapper has been a quality-of-life cornerstone for Old School RuneScape since its addition a couple of years ago, giving players fine-grained control over their interface. The original implementation, while functional, accumulated usability issues that developers couldn’t resolve without structural changes. This rebuild represents the kind of backend investment that rarely gets player-facing announcements but significantly improves how a feature behaves over time.

For mobile players especially, the swipe-scrolling addition addresses a real friction point—menu interactions on touchscreen have always been fiddlier than desktop, and removing the need to precisely grab a scroll bar makes the experience noticeably smoother. The per-subject menu organization also means your customizations become more granular and contextual, reducing the need for one-size-fits-all compromises.

What’s Next

Players should expect to spend some time re-tuning menu setups, particularly for any complex “walk-here” arrangements. Watch for community feedback on edge cases as the new system settles in across different play styles and device types.
