Optimizing Your Armor Loadout in The Blood of Dawnwalker

In The Blood of Dawnwalker, gear choice dictates your effectiveness across specific playstyles like vampirism, witchcraft, and swordmastery. Because upgrading legendary equipment is a significant investment of time and currency, focusing on one or two sets is the smartest way to progress.

Essential Prerequisites

Before chasing high-tier armor, keep these mechanics in mind:

– Upgrading: Armor does not level up automatically. Visit an armourer to increase stats manually.
– Stat Penalties: If you equip medium or heavy armor, you must unlock the ‘Second Skin I’ and ‘Second Skin II’ perks in the swordmastery skill tree, or you will suffer a stat penalty.
– Infamy: Several key items require reaching level 4 infamy, which can be monitored via the court menu.

Finding the Right Set

To maximize your build, target these legendary options based on your preferred playstyle:

– Best Overall (The Arbiter Armor): Best for all-around utility. It provides high base armor, health regeneration, and boosts to both witchcraft and vampirism. Obtain the full set by completing the quest “A Bulwark Against Darkness,” available at infamy level 4.
– Best Vampire Armor (Isbrand’s Set): Focuses on claw critical hit chance and damage. Key pieces include Isbrand’s Plate (found at the end of “Hive and Seek”) and Isbrand’s Greaves (looted near the Gravel Lea shrine). For optimal results, pair these with Vrakhir’s Treads for health regeneration.
– Best Witchcraft Armor (Ancient Armor): Enhances witchcraft ability damage and activation charge restoration. While the Ancient Hero’s Armour is a strong core piece, note that the Ancient Greaves are only available if you choose to destroy The Font of Life during “Stronger Than Achilles.”
– Best Swordmastery Armor (Pieter’s Garb/Mercenary Armor): Built for high weapon critical hit chance and stamina management. Pieter’s Garb is found during the “Buried Past” quest, while Mercenary components can be purchased from armorers in Svartrau City and Tantari once specific requirements are met.

Always verify your armor piece stats before committing to upgrades to ensure they align with your current build’s primary damage source.
