If you have been waiting for the virtual K-pop sensations K/DA to return, you aren’t alone. For the first time in six years, the group’s official social media accounts have been reactivated, sending fans into a frenzy over a potential comeback. As reported by IGN, the accounts have been wiped of previous posts, with new profile and banner images featuring the group’s familiar ‘All Out’ era promotional art—now accented with hot pink and magenta flames.
The evidence so far
While Riot Games has yet to make an official announcement, the activity lines up with several earlier reports. According to IGN, data-mined leaks spotted by SkinSpotlights earlier this year pointed toward a ‘Firestarter’ skin concept within a Wild Rift update, alongside a new song registration on the ASCAP Repertory. While some fans have speculated that the new color scheme could hint at a collaboration with Fortnite’s current ‘Fortnitemares’ event, others are looking directly toward the League of Legends World Championship, which is currently underway and concludes with the Grand Final on November 14.
Why it matters
For players and music fans, this development is a potential signal that Riot is preparing a return for the quartet of Ahri, Akali, Evelynn, and Kai’Sa. K/DA made a massive splash with their 2018 debut at Worlds, and their single ‘POP/STARS’ remains a milestone in digital music history. If a comeback is indeed on the horizon, it could bring fresh in-game content, new music, or potentially another high-production performance at a major esports event.
However, a return to the stage isn’t guaranteed. As noted by IGN, the group’s future also depends on the availability of the original vocalists, including Madison Beer, Soyeon, Miyeon, and Jaira Burns. Beer recently stated during her Locket tour that while she would ‘love to’ return, the decision is not entirely up to her. With the League of Legends World Championship ongoing, fans should keep a close watch on the tournament’s broadcast for any official teasers.
