CD Projekt Red has snuck a surprise into the recent 2.5 update for Cyberpunk 2077, adding a collection of gear inspired by The Witcher 3 that went unmentioned in the official patch notes. As reported by IGN, players have discovered a variety of iconic items from the studio’s other flagship franchise hidden within the game.
The Witcher Crossover Items
The secret cache includes several pieces of equipment that pay homage to Geralt of Rivia’s adventures. According to the reporting from IGN, players can now acquire the Sihil Sword, a blade characterized by its ancient inscriptions and riveted edges, alongside the Boar Carver—a knife reminiscent of the one Geralt uses to harvest trophies from monsters.
Beyond weapons, the update introduces vanity items for V. This includes the Professor’s Spectacles, a mask familiar to those who played the Hearts of Stone expansion in The Witcher 3. To round out the set, players can equip the Ursine Jacket and Ursine Pants, which are based on the Bear School gear sets from the same series.
How to Access the Gear
Acquiring these items follows a similar process to previous in-game drops. As noted by the X (formerly Twitter) user @SynthPotato and highlighted by IGN, players must wait for an in-game text message from a character named Arianne regarding a gift. Once that message is received, the items can be collected at V’s apartment.
While the official 2.5 patch notes highlighted the Edgerunners crossover and a new questline featuring Night City founder Richard Night, these Witcher-themed additions were omitted entirely. The update also introduced a new dual-wielding playstyle and expanded customization options for V’s look, including new colors for cyberware like gorilla arms.
Why it matters
For players, this surprise drop represents a fun piece of fan service that bridges CD Projekt Red’s two major worlds. Since the developer previously ruled out further DLC for Cyberpunk 2077, these unannounced additions provide a fresh reason for returning to Night City to customize V’s aesthetic with legendary gear from the Witcher universe.
This update arrives during a period of expansion for the franchise, coinciding with plans for a live-action film. Players should keep an eye on their in-game messages to trigger the gift, as these hidden items are a rare example of secret content being added long after the base game’s major development cycle has wound down.
