The wait is over for fans of fast-paced chaos: Shipment has officially been added to the multiplayer rotation in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. The map, which traces its roots back nearly two decades, is now live across the standard 6v6 map rotation and is also featured in a dedicated ‘Shipment 24/7’ playlist.

The Return of a Happy Accident

According to reporting from IGN, Shipment’s history is famously unintentional. Introduced in 2007, the map was originally designed as a simple test environment for features like split-screen. It was left in the final game build by mistake, and due to the costs associated with pushing updates at the time, developers decided to leave it in. It quickly became a fan favorite, cementing its status as an iconic staple of the franchise.

Looking Ahead at Season One

This update marks the first post-launch map to hit the game, serving as a precursor to the game’s first season of content, which is set to debut next week. While specific details on the upcoming season are currently under wraps, expectations are high for the standard slate of post-launch additions, including new weapons, a battle pass, and additional cosmetics.

Regarding the overall state of the game, IGN recently reviewed Modern Warfare 4, awarding it a 7/10. While their review noted that the multiplayer mode didn’t necessarily break new ground, they concluded that it remains a fun, familiar experience for the series.

Why it matters

For players, the addition of the 24/7 playlist is the most significant change. By allowing players to queue exclusively for Shipment, the game provides a high-intensity environment perfect for farming kills, grinding out camo challenges, and leveling up weapons quickly.

If you’re looking to complete weapon mastery challenges or just want a break from the standard, larger map layouts, this playlist is your best bet for non-stop action. Keep an eye out for the launch of the first season next week, as it will likely bring the next major wave of content and shift the multiplayer meta once again.
