Phantom Blade Zero is building momentum ahead of its October 29, 2026 launch with two announcements: pre-orders are now live, and developer S-GAME is getting a dedicated State of Play presentation from PlayStation. Pre-orders opened on August 11 alongside an 11-minute gameplay video, and the State of Play was scheduled for August 17. It is the first time the game has had its own spotlight in Sony’s showcase format.

Release date, platforms and price

Phantom Blade Zero launches on October 29, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and PC, via Steam and the Epic Games Store, with the release landing on October 28 in the US and some other regions because of time zones. There is no Xbox version announced.

The Standard Edition costs $59.99 and the Deluxe Edition costs $69.99. Pre-ordering the Standard Edition adds an early accessory and costume, which can also be unlocked through normal play. The Deluxe Edition adds two exclusive outfits, a digital artbook and a digital soundtrack.

What to expect

Phantom Blade Zero is a single-player action game from Chinese studio S-GAME, set in the Wulin, a dark wuxia world inspired by Chinese martial arts fiction. Players control Soul, an assassin, through fast and stylish melee combat. The 11-minute video focused on extended gameplay rather than cinematic cuts, answering community questions about how the game actually plays from moment to moment.

The trailer also featured martial arts film star Donnie Yen, who has been a creative consultant on the game since 2023 and provided motion and facial capture for the character Mo Yuan. His involvement is meant to bring the feel of kung fu cinema into the combat.

What the State of Play covered

The dedicated State of Play went deeper into systems ahead of launch. It confirmed more than 30 main weapons, 25 secondary weapons called Phantom Edges, weapon upgrading and reforging, summons and ranged options. It also detailed three difficulty modes: Wayfarer for players focused on the story, Hellwalker with more advanced enemy behavior, and Sixty-Six Days as the hardest option.

Players interested in launch bonuses should note that the Standard Edition bonus items can be earned in-game, so the main reason to pre-order early is the Deluxe Edition cosmetics and extras.

Why it matters

For action game fans tracking late 2026 releases, Phantom Blade Zero is one of the heavier hitters, and Sony giving it a full State of Play shows how much confidence surrounds it. It is also a high-profile test for Chinese-developed action games on the global stage.

At $59.99 for the standard edition, it also comes in below the $70 price of most big releases this year, which makes it an easier purchase for players weighing several games this holiday season.
