For over a decade, Steven Ogg, the actor behind Grand Theft Auto V’s volatile Trevor Philips, has kept a notable distance from the franchise. However, as GamesRadar+ reports, Ogg is beginning to embrace the series, recently expressing interest in potentially streaming the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6 alongside co-star Ned Luke.
A change of heart
In a recent livestream hosted by Luke, who played Michael De Santa in the game, the two actors discussed the future of the series. Ogg, who historically avoided acknowledging GTA V despite his iconic performance, floated the idea of streaming the sequel once it launches. “We should also do this with the new one, when the GTA 6 comes out,” Ogg told Luke. He noted that he is curious about the new characters and the technical evolution of the game, admitting it would be “kind of fun” to experience the transition.
This marks a significant shift in stance for Ogg. As recently as February 2025, the actor maintained that he had no intention of playing the upcoming sequel. While it remains unclear if his current enthusiasm is a sign of genuine long-term interest or simply casual conversation between colleagues, it represents a departure from his previous policy of distancing himself from the franchise.
Why it matters
For fans of the series, this exchange is a surprising development from a cast member who spent 13 years effectively ignoring the game that defined his career. The prospect of Ogg and Luke streaming GTA 6 together suggests a potential shift in how legacy actors might engage with future Rockstar titles, moving from detachment to active participation.
Beyond the personality dynamics, the conversation highlights the industry-wide anticipation surrounding the sequel. While Rockstar has stated that future development cycles—including the lead-up to potential future titles—will be faster due to new tools and team structures, players are currently focused on the November 19 launch window for GTA 6. Whether or not Ogg ends up streaming the game, his vocal curiosity about the next chapter indicates that the hype train is truly starting to pull out of the station for everyone involved.
