Invictus Gaming has secured the LPL’s fourth and final seed for the League of Legends World Championship 2026. The team booked its place on Saturday, September 19, with a 3-1 win over JD Gaming in the lower-bracket final of the LPL Regional Finals, completing China’s lineup for the year’s biggest League of Legends event.

The road to qualification

IG’s path was not easy. After losing the upper-bracket final to Top Esports, the team had to fight through the lower bracket to keep its Worlds hopes alive. In the deciding series against JD Gaming, IG opened with a 2-0 lead, anchored by strong performances from JiaQi and Rookie. JDG pushed back to take the third game, helped by an 11-kill performance from Junjia on Trundle, but IG closed out the series in game four.

The result marks a major return for the organization, with veterans Rookie and TheShy heading back to the World Championship stage. IG won Worlds in 2018, and the two players were central to that title run. For JD Gaming, the loss ends the season on a disappointing note, marking the third consecutive year the team has finished third in the Regional Finals. JDG will instead turn to the 2026 Demacia Cup Global Invitational alongside Team WE.

China’s four representatives

The LPL’s representatives are now confirmed: Anyone’s Legend as first seed, followed by Bilibili Gaming, Top Esports and Invictus Gaming. All four go straight into the Swiss Stage, which is set to take place in Allen, Texas, from October 23 to 31, so none of them will need to play through the Play-In.

Who else has qualified

Nineteen teams from six major regions take part in Worlds 2026. Korea’s LCK sends Gen.G, Hanwha Life Esports, T1 and Dplus KIA. EMEA’s LEC is represented by G2 Esports and Movistar KOI, with Karmine Corp starting in the Play-In. From the Asia-Pacific LCP, Team Secret Whales and CTBC Flying Oyster qualified for the main event, while MVK Esports enters through the Play-In. At the time IG qualified, the North American LCS and Brazil’s CBLOL were still settling their final spots through regional playoffs.

Dates, venues and format

Worlds 2026 is hosted in the United States and runs from October 15 to November 14. The four-team Play-In is held at the Riot Games Arena in Los Angeles as a double-elimination, best-of-five bracket. The Swiss Stage, quarterfinals and semifinals move to the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, and the final is scheduled for the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The Swiss Stage uses best-of-one matches in its early rounds and best-of-three series for matches that decide qualification or elimination, before the top teams move into a single-elimination knockout bracket. Fearless Draft also applies, meaning champions picked in a series cannot be used again by either team in later games of that series.

Why it matters

With all four LPL teams entering at the Swiss Stage, China arrives with a full-strength lineup and a mix of form and experience. IG’s return adds one of the most recognizable rosters in the game’s history, and fans will be watching whether Rookie and TheShy can still compete with Korea’s top teams, which have dominated recent World Championships.

For viewers in the Middle East, matches played in Texas and New York will generally fall in the late evening or overnight hours, so it is worth checking the official schedule for local start times once the Swiss draw is published.
