Dragami Games revealed Lollipop Chainsaw 2: Back2Back at Tokyo Game Show 2026, a 2027 PS5 sequel that puts Juliet Starling on roller skates.

Juliet Starling, the chainsaw-wielding cheerleader, is coming back. Dragami Games has announced Lollipop Chainsaw 2: Back2Back, a sequel slated for release in 2027 on PlayStation 5. The game was revealed at Tokyo Game Show 2026 with gameplay footage showing Juliet moving through levels on roller skates.
A new setting: Jaredwood
The original game took place in San Romero. The sequel moves to a new city called Jaredwood, built around the film industry and overrun by the undead. According to the announcement, Juliet finds herself trapped inside a twisted movie directed by a mysterious antagonist. She has to uncover a conspiracy while fighting a new type of enemy, the “Corrupted Realm” zombies.
Gameplay: skates and speed
The biggest visible change is mobility. The footage shows Juliet on roller skates, which allow faster movement through environments and suggest a more traversal-focused style than the original’s mostly on-foot combat. The trailer also showed a boss fight against a parody character called Zorbie. Juliet’s chainsaw remains central to the action, and the skates appear designed to link movement and attacks together. Beyond that, Dragami has not yet detailed combat systems, upgrades or game length.
A series that changed hands
The original Lollipop Chainsaw released in 2012 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It was developed by Grasshopper Manufacture, created by Suda51, with a script co-written by filmmaker James Gunn, and became a cult favorite for its over-the-top tone and humor.
Neither Suda51 nor Gunn is involved in the sequel. Development is being handled by Dragami Games, the studio behind Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, the 2024 remaster of the original. Dragami is led by Yoshimi Yasuda, who produced the 2012 game.
Early reactions
Fans quickly reacted on social media after the reveal, and much of the early discussion noted that the footage looks unpolished. With the release set for 2027, there is still time for the team to refine visuals and performance before launch. Whether the sequel can match the offbeat, satirical charm of the original remains the big question.
Why it matters
For fans who have waited more than a decade for a follow-up, Back2Back is the first new Lollipop Chainsaw story since 2012. The move to skates signals that Dragami is trying to give the sequel its own identity rather than simply repeating the first game, while the film-industry setting keeps the series’ satirical edge.
PlayStation 5 is the only platform announced so far. Players on other systems should wait for official confirmation, and anyone interested may want to try RePOP in the meantime to see where the series stands today.
