Mastering The Last Taxi Quest in Control Resonant

In Control Resonant, “The Last Taxi” is a multi-stage side quest that tasks you with locating driverless, honking taxis across various zones. Entering these vehicles transports you to “thresholds”—paranormal realms where you must complete specific puzzles to progress the story of a trapped woman named Mila. You can complete these zones in any order.

Prerequisites and General Tips

Before you start, listen for incessant car horns, as they indicate a nearby taxi. Once inside a threshold, always interact with the local payphone first to trigger the story context. While puzzle solutions vary by location, they generally involve identifying “odd one out” patterns among the cars.

Zone-Specific Taxi Locations

* Central: Found in the northwesternmost alleyway, accessible via rooftops west of the Patterned Factory.
* West Incursion Zone: Located on a wall next to the Empire theater. You need the “Shift” ability from the Parking Garage Fault to reach this via the Empire Avenue Station entrance.
* Evacuation Zone: Tucked into an alleyway northeast of the “Unauthorized mines?” map label.
* Downtown: Located at Lookout Point on the east side. You must have the “Reach” ability, unlocked in the Subway Fault, to navigate to the eastern region.
* The Park: Found in the parking garage one floor below the ice cream truck. Drop into the hole filled with mold near the vendor to reach the correct level.
* Underpass: Situated on an elevated platform in the northeast corner of the area accessible after riding the cable car in the “Recursions and Iterations” quest.
* Unknown: Located on the same island as the Evac Building; head to the right side of the building to find the cab.

Solving the Puzzles

Most puzzles revolve around observational logic. For example, in Central, you must identify specific lighting configurations on the cars; in The Park, you must clean mold off the vehicle and reattach appropriate parts (avoiding the police siren and white trunk). In the Unknown zone, you must find the cab that casts a taxi-shaped shadow.

Completing all taxi thresholds is one of three requirements to unlock the “Threshold Researcher” achievement, alongside “Crossing the Threshold” and “Unsupervised Science.” Be aware that finishing the quest does not provide in-game item rewards.
