How to Unlock Combat Abilities

Combat abilities are earned by defeating Resonants, optional boss encounters found throughout Control Resonant. After each victory, you’ll choose one ability from a limited set of options. This choice matters: selecting one option prevents you from using the alternatives during that playthrough. If you’re chasing specific achievements or trophies, verify which abilities you need before committing. You can revisit previous choices using Reset Items accessed through the Gap, allowing you to rebuild your loadout without restarting.

Recommended Combat Abilities

Your best choices depend on how aggressively you want to fight and which status effects align with your strategy. Six abilities stand out for damage output and combat synergy:

Barrage provides reliable ranged damage and safely eliminates weaker enemies from a distance. Push creates immediate space and can instantly kill enemies positioned near environmental hazards. Ignite adds Burn to your attacks while increasing damage and Falter across your offensive abilities—valuable for sustained pressure. Spore Burst rapidly builds Infected status, making it useful against tougher enemies later in the game. Astral Rebuke launches grounded enemies upward, creating follow-up attack opportunities. Command temporarily converts stronger enemies into allies, offering crucial support during difficult encounters.
