The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered has hit the ground running, but it has not been a smooth launch for everyone. Just days after release, CD Projekt Red has pushed out multiple hotfixes to address stability and visual concerns, with more adjustments currently in the pipeline to help smooth out the experience for players.
Immediate Fixes and Lighting Adjustments
The first round of updates focused on platform-specific technical blockers. One critical fix resolved an issue where DLSS was inaccessible for the Xbox Play Anywhere version on PC. Additionally, the developers rolled out lighting tweaks for console versions to brighten interiors and ensure better parity with the PC release. A second hotfix, a 5GB patch on PC, followed shortly after to tackle specific bugs involving save files and voiceover issues.
Upcoming Bloom and Sound Fixes
Beyond these initial patches, CD Projekt Red is listening to player feedback regarding the game’s new visual presentation. Marcin Momot, the studio’s community director, confirmed that the team is working on a fix for the bloom lighting setting. Many players have reported that the current implementation makes the game look washed out, with a common workaround being to simply disable the setting entirely until an official patch arrives. Additionally, the development team is aware of reports regarding audio issues on consoles and is actively working on a resolution.
Why it matters
The remaster’s graphical overhaul, which includes advanced features like path tracing, has sparked significant debate within the community. While some players appreciate the technical upgrades, others feel the new aesthetic lacks the character of the original. These hotfixes are crucial for players currently struggling with stuttering, screen tearing, or performance issues in specific zones like Toussaint.
For the player base, this signifies a period of transition as the studio balances the game’s ambitious new tech with the reality of day-one bugs. If you are experiencing washed-out visuals, turning off bloom remains the most effective temporary fix. Players should keep an eye on official CD Projekt Red channels, as the team has stated they hope to include these addressed items in the next update, though no specific timeline has been provided yet.
