Team Liquid has officially released Kamil “siuhy” Szkaradek into free agency, marking the end of a difficult 16-month stint for the player within the organization’s Counter-Strike 2 lineup. This move follows a period of stagnation for the squad and concludes a transition that began earlier this summer.
A Challenging Tenure
siuhy originally joined Liquid in April 2025 on loan from MOUZ, stepping into the role of in-game leader (IGL) following the departures of previous captains Casper “cadiaN” Møller and Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken. Despite high expectations, the roster failed to gain consistent momentum. Over 185 maps, siuhy maintained a 0.87 rating, and the team struggled on the biggest stages, failing to reach the playoffs in any of the three Majors they contested during his tenure. Their best result, a top-four finish at FISSURE Playground #2, highlighted a lack of deep tournament runs, and the team ultimately held a 5-11 record at major CS2 events.
The writing had been on the wall since July 2026, when Liquid benched siuhy and transitioned leadership duties to Johnny “JT” Theodosiou. The organization has yet to name a replacement for the now-departed Polish player, leaving an open vacancy in their active roster as they continue to refine their competitive strategy.
Why it matters
For Liquid fans, this release signifies that the team is still deep in a rebuilding phase. The move highlights the aggressive roster shuffling currently affecting the wider Counter-Strike landscape, as organizations look to find stability in an increasingly competitive field. With the IGL spot in flux and no confirmed replacement announced, the pressure is on the organization to identify a core that can finally deliver consistent results.
While this change affects the global competitive landscape, there are no specific regional implications mentioned regarding Middle Eastern server presence or local language support for these specific roster moves. Fans should look to upcoming tournament registration lists to see who Liquid tabs to fill the final slot as the organization attempts to bounce back from a prolonged period of underperformance.
