If you felt like you still had questions about the Umbrella Corporation’s shadowy co-founder, you’re not alone. Haris Orkin, the writer behind Resident Evil Requiem, has hinted that the game’s upcoming story expansion will focus heavily on further unraveling the motivations of Oswell E. Spencer.

Speaking at Meadowlark Comic Con, Orkin let the news slip while discussing the narrative scope of the project. “We have an arc for Spencer in Requiem, you kind of understand that more, and then in the DLC you’ll understand it even further,” Orkin said. He jokingly acknowledged that he probably shouldn’t have revealed that detail, but the confirmation provides a concrete direction for what fans can expect from future content.

Expanding the Villain’s Reach

Capcom previously confirmed that a major story expansion for the game was in development. During an earlier update, director Koshi Nakanishi noted that the team is “hard at work” on the project but requested patience from the community, as the expansion will take time to complete. While specific release windows remain under wraps, Orkin’s comments confirm that the team is prioritizing narrative depth for one of the franchise’s most iconic antagonists.

Fueling the Spencer Mansion Theories

Orkin’s confirmation aligns with ongoing community speculation regarding the return of the original game’s infamous setting. Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem previously suggested that the iconic Spencer Mansion was originally intended for the main game and might resurface as DLC content. While Capcom has not officially confirmed the location, the focus on Spencer’s character arc makes the return of his namesake mansion feel increasingly plausible to dedicated fans tracking these rumors.

Why it matters

For players, this update clarifies the trajectory of the post-launch support for Resident Evil Requiem. Rather than just adding side missions or equipment, Capcom appears committed to expanding the core lore that defines the series’ overarching villain. If you enjoyed the character-driven narrative in the base game, this expansion seems designed to bridge the gap between Requiem’s events and the broader Resident Evil timeline.

As of now, there is no official word on pricing or a release date for the expansion. We will be keeping a close watch on further announcements from Capcom regarding regional availability, including potential localization updates for the Middle East, as more concrete details emerge.
