The hit tabletop experience that made waves on Kickstarter is officially heading to the world of Edgerunners. Following a record-breaking $28 million crowdfunding campaign that concluded in April, developer WeirdCo is bringing the popular anime series to the table with an upcoming expansion titled Burn Bright. According to reporting from Kotaku, the set is scheduled for a retail launch next spring, aligning with a broader wave of franchise synergy that includes recent updates to the Cyberpunk 2077 video game and the premiere of the second season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners on Netflix.

Burn Bright will expand on the base game’s foundation by introducing new gameplay mechanics, though WeirdCo has kept the specific rule changes under wraps for now. Beyond the strategy, the set aims to elevate the aesthetic of the cards with foil and textured treatments, alongside a new, yet-to-be-detailed chase rarity that the developers plan to reveal in the coming months. The developers also shared a first look at the expansion via an exclusive card reveal titled ‘Gloria Martinez: The Future’s Price,’ which features series protagonists David and Lucy alongside Gloria Martinez.

“The community reception to Cyberpunk TCG has been nothing short of incredible so far, so we want to deliver something even more exciting with Set 2,” said WeirdCo co-founder Elliot Cook in a statement provided to Kotaku. “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners provides us so many opportunities to evolve this game in meaningful ways, both mechanically and artistically, and we can’t wait to share that with players.”

At launch, the Burn Bright expansion will be available in English and French, with a Chinese version confirmed for a release at a later date. Players looking to get an early edge or test out these new cards should keep an eye out for pre-release tournaments, which are slated to take place one week prior to the official launch of the set, offering an early chance to play against others and open packs from the expansion.

Why it matters

For players jumping into the Cyberpunk TCG, this marks a major evolution for a game that is just beginning its commercial journey. The debut set, titled ‘Welcome to Night City,’ which features various characters from Cyberpunk 2077, is scheduled to launch in stores on November 6. The inclusion of Edgerunners content so soon after the base game’s retail arrival suggests that developer support will be aggressive and tied closely to the broader franchise’s media cycle. As the Cyberpunk universe continues to grow with new anime seasons and potential live-action projects in development, the commitment to expanding the trading card game demonstrates a clear effort to keep the tabletop experience synced with the momentum of the wider brand.
