Actor Charlie Cox, widely recognized for his portrayal of Daredevil and his voice work as Gustav in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, has confirmed he is moving deeper into the gaming space. Speaking at New York Comic-Con 2026, the British actor revealed that he has wrapped up recording sessions for a mystery title published by Sega that has yet to be officially announced.

The Challenges of Voice Acting

During his conversation with IGN, Cox opened up about the hurdles he faced during the project, specifically regarding the heavy vocal workload. The actor noted that the project required approximately 40 hours of dialogue recording. He also shared a humorous anecdote about his first day on set, where he arrived to find the development team was under the impression he would be performing with an American accent. Despite the surprise, he committed to the extensive recording sessions in the requested dialect.

Speculating on the Sega Mystery

While Cox kept details under wraps, Eurogamer has speculated about what this project might be. Sega has a busy roadmap ahead, including Stranger than Heaven, which is slated for January 2027 and features high-profile guest appearances from the likes of Snoop Dogg. However, with the production timeline Cox described, it remains unclear if he is involved in a currently known project—like the star-studded Total War: Warhammer 40K—or if this is an entirely new, unrevealed IP.

Why it matters

For gamers, this update highlights a growing trend of major film and television stars taking on significant roles in interactive entertainment. With Cox having said that Clair Obscur “opened a new avenue” for his professional work, fans can likely expect to hear him in more titles in the coming years.

It is worth noting that while Sega titles are globally anticipated, there is currently no information regarding this project’s localization features, such as Arabic language support or specific regional release adjustments for players in the Middle East. As this remains an unannounced title, we are still waiting for concrete details on platforms and release windows. For now, it is a “watch this space” situation as we wait for Sega to pull back the curtain on this mysterious project.
