Andrej “babybay” Francisty is currently evaluating opportunities to compete in VCT China for the 2027 season, following reports that G2 Esports plans to move in a different direction with their roster. According to reporting from Esports Insider, which cites Sheep Esports, G2 has reportedly decided to replace babybay, opting to bring in Eduardo “Sato” Nagahama, formerly of Leviatán, for the upcoming year.

The path forward for babybay

While the prospect of a move to China is on the table, nothing is set in stone yet. There have been no confirmed signings or specific organizations identified as landing spots for the American competitor. Sources indicate that babybay’s interest in the region grew during his time in China for VALORANT Champions Shanghai. Impressed by the experience, he reportedly made staying in the region a priority for his career moving forward. He is expected to remain in the country while he assesses his available options.

G2 Esports’ roster strategy

This transition comes after a high-performing season for G2. The team secured a top-four finish at Champions Shanghai, fueled by playoff victories against 100 Thieves and T1. Sheep Esports notes that babybay was the team’s second-highest-rated player during that tournament.

Babybay’s tenure with G2 saw several significant milestones, including his return to professional play in August 2025. After initially joining for Stage 2 to replace Nathan “leaf” Orf, he helped the team secure a stage title and qualify for Champions Paris. He remained with the squad through the 2026 season following the departure of Jonah “JonahP” Pulice.

Why it matters

For fans of the VCT, this move marks a significant shift for one of the most recognizable players in the Americas scene. If babybay successfully transitions to a team in China, it represents a notable shift in international player movement and could drastically alter the competitive landscape in the Chinese league.

At this stage, players should watch for official announcements from either G2 Esports or the eventual organization that signs babybay. Because no deal is finalized, his status remains one of the more interesting storylines in the ongoing VCT roster shuffle as teams finalize their plans for 2027.
