E-District Night Temporarily Removed from Apex Legends Rotation

Respawn Entertainment has issued a technical update for Apex Legends, the popular hero-based battle royale title, to address active player concerns regarding map clarity. As of November 6, 2026, the developer has removed the nighttime variant of the E-District map from all active playlists across all available platforms. In its place, the studio has rotated in the standard daytime version of the E-District map. This change is part of an ongoing effort by the development team to refine the user experience within the game by balancing atmospheric design with competitive requirements.

The decision to pull the map variant comes after the team reviewed community feedback regarding the visual experience on E-District (night). While the developers state that they remain committed to the neon-soaked city aesthetic that defines the map, they acknowledged that the current visual implementation negatively impacts gameplay clarity during matches. To reconcile the desired atmosphere with the need for better visibility, the development team is currently implementing a set of high impact changes designed to improve how players navigate and spot targets.

When the nighttime version of E-District returns to the game later this split, players can expect a series of specific adjustments. The team is working to reduce the current fog density and increase the fog draw distance, which should clarify sightlines in long-range engagements. Furthermore, the developers are performing a rebalance of the map color palette to ensure that characters stand out more clearly against the environment. The team expressed gratitude to the community for their continued feedback, which served as the primary catalyst for these adjustments.

Respawn Entertainment currently anticipates that the improved version of E-District (night) will be ready for reintroduction to the map rotation toward the end of the month. In the interim, players will continue to encounter the daytime version of the city during their sessions.

Why it matters

For the Apex Legends player base, this adjustment marks a shift in the current competitive environment. Although the temporary removal of the nighttime variant results in a slightly less varied map pool for the next few weeks, the incoming changes to fog density and color balance are designed to foster a more balanced and fair competitive experience. Players who have struggled to track enemies amidst the heavy neon clutter of the city can look forward to a cleaner visual experience once the map returns. Apex Legends fans should continue to monitor the in-game map rotation schedule throughout the month to see when the updated nighttime version of the map officially returns to the rotation.
