A guide to finding Fortnite’s rare Pirate Shop Token

Fortnite’s Treasure Hunters mini-season has introduced a rare item known as the Pirate Shop Token. According to a guide published by VGC, this limited-time reward allows players to claim V-Bucks-based items from the in-game shop for free for 14 days. The season began on November 1 and is scheduled to conclude on December 5.

How to find the Pirate Shop Token

To hunt for a token, players must participate in Battle Royale or Zero Build modes and open chests. There is no special item or specific skin that improves your odds; according to the source, all players have an equal chance of finding one regardless of their status or equipment.

Steps for hunters:

  • Play in Squads: Utilize the Fill option to join a group of four. The source reports that if any member of the squad finds a token, every player in that squad receives it. This effectively quadruples the number of chests opened per match compared to solo play.
  • Maximize chest looting: Rather than dropping into high-traffic areas like Lantern Landing where you risk elimination, choose random locations on the map to consistently open as many chests as possible.
  • Maintain balance: Ensure you loot enough weapons to defend yourself so you can remain in the game longer to keep opening chests.

Understanding the odds

Evidence gathered from statistical analysis by user Blortzen, as cited by VGC, suggests the drop mechanics operate through tiers. Opening a chest triggers a potential Treasure Hunt roll (estimated at 1 in 100). If triggered, the game determines a reward tier: Standard (60-70%), Major (20-25%), or Supreme (5-10%).

If you land a Supreme tier reward, you receive either a specific weekly skin—such as the Solid Gold A$AP Rocky—or the Pirate Shop Token. Notably, once a Supreme reward is claimed, it is removed from the drop pool, increasing your statistical probability of securing the token on your next successful Supreme roll.

Why it matters

For players, the Pirate Shop Token represents a significant opportunity to acquire hundreds of dollars’ worth of virtual cosmetics without spending currency. The 14-day window of free shop access applies to most items including skins, gliders, and emotes, though it explicitly excludes Battle Passes, real-money bundles, and gifts.

Players should be aware that the token is highly elusive, and the limited duration of the Treasure Hunters season adds a layer of urgency. Because the token is shared among squads, team coordination is the most effective practical strategy to improve your chances. Watch for the end of the season on December 5, as the window to find these items is time-limited.
