G2 Esports has officially parted ways with head coach and retired League of Legends pro Luka “Perkz” Perković following a controversial social media post. As reported by IGN, the organization made the decision to terminate their collaboration just hours after Perković shared a lengthy 2,676-word statement on X (formerly Twitter) on November 4, 2026.
The ‘Tweet Bomb’ and Resulting Backlash
In a post he described as his “first and last honest post in [the] last decade,” Perković addressed a variety of personal stances. The former pro touched on his lack of political involvement, denied being a supporter of Russia or Vladimir Putin, and clarified his relationship with former G2 CEO Carlos “ocelote” Rodríguez Santiago. However, the most significant backlash stemmed from his comments on abortion, which he characterized as “murder.”
Perković claimed he wanted to address these topics so fans would know what he “really stands for.” Following the immense negative reaction from the community, G2 Esports responded quickly to distance themselves from his remarks.
G2 Esports’ Official Response
In a statement provided by CEO Alban Dechelotte, G2 Esports cited a failure to align with the organization’s core values. “While the world is complex and not everyone agrees on everything, some of the statements made last night do not align with G2’s stance and values,” the organization wrote. “We acknowledge that this statement hurt many of our fans, and we want to apologize for it.”
Following his departure, Perković shared a follow-up post containing a Bible verse from Luke 6:22, which also drew criticism from users on the platform. He has not posted since.
Why it matters
For G2 fans, this marks a major leadership change as the organization enters the off-season. G2 Esports has confirmed that it is currently focusing on rebuilding its staff and roster. CEO Alban Dechelotte stated that no further communication regarding replacements or roster moves will be shared until the official opening of free agency.
This incident highlights the tension between personal public expression and professional team representation in esports. As G2 moves forward, fans should monitor the organization’s official channels for updates on how this sudden vacancy will impact their competitive lineup for the upcoming season.
