Militsioner, a surreal immersive sim built around evading a literal colossal policeman, is launching on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox PC, and Game Pass in 2027. The game puts players in an absurd bind: arrested for nothing, with no legal recourse, they must find a way out of a mysterious town while constantly watched by an omniscient giant lawman.

What You’re Actually Getting Into

The core loop is pure immersive sim: escape a Kafkaesque town by any means necessary. You’re innocent, the system doesn’t care, and the Colossal Policeman—a towering, omniscient presence—monitors your every move. The game presents multiple avenues to freedom: stealth, cunning, manipulation, or outright crime. You can hide and outrun, outwit through dialogue, or resort to theft and breaking and entering. Weirdly, flirtation is also on the table. The game explicitly offers romance as a potential escape route, including the possibility of dating the Colossal Policeman himself (flowers recommended).

Town NPCs have their own needs and agendas. You can help them, exploit them, or ignore them entirely—each choice carries weight. The world remembers what you do, and consequences compound. Your playthrough’s ending hinges entirely on the person you become within it.

The game will support Xbox Play Anywhere, meaning a single purchase works on both console and PC at no extra cost. It’s still in development.

Why This Matters

Immersive sims live or die on player agency and emergent storytelling. Games like Deus Ex and Prey succeeded because they trusted players to approach problems sideways. Militsioner leans into that tradition hard, but adds a surreal, darkly comedic layer: your antagonist isn’t a rival faction or a threatening AI, it’s absurdity itself—a town that operates on dream logic where romance and crime sit equally on your decision tree.

The Kafkaesque premise—innocent person trapped in an indifferent bureaucratic nightmare—is perfect IP for the immersive sim format. Those games excel at exploring moral complexity and player choice. Militsioner seems designed to ask uncomfortable questions: what are you willing to do to escape? Does the method matter if the result is freedom? The game’s emphasis on complex outcomes and moral weight suggests it’s not offering clean answers.

For Game Pass specifically, this adds another narrative-driven, choice-heavy title to the service. Xbox has been building its immersive sim presence, and a Kafkaesque game about outsmarting an omniscient authority figure fits that appetite.

What’s Next

Players will get their hands on the full experience in 2027. Until then, the game remains in development, so specifics about puzzle design, NPC interaction systems, and how the romance mechanics actually function remain unrevealed. It’s worth watching for dev updates as we get closer to launch.
