MLBB Makes Historic Debut at 2026 Asian Games with Gold Medal on the Line

Mobile Legends: Bang Bang has officially arrived at the Asian Games, with 11 national teams gathering at the Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname, Japan, to compete for the event’s first-ever MLBB gold medal. Running from September 29 to October 1, this tournament marks a significant milestone for the mobile MOBA, which first appeared as a non-medal event in 2018 before gaining full medal status in 2022.

The Road to Gold

Following the group stages, the tournament has moved into the single-elimination playoffs. Myanmar and Hong Kong have advanced from Group A, while Malaysia and Indonesia move forward from Group B. Philippines—represented by the core of Team Liquid PH—enters the knockout rounds as the tournament favorite, carrying the weight of the region’s dominant history, having secured six of the seven previous MLBB World Championships.

Matches throughout the playoff stage are best-of-three, ensuring high-stakes pressure as teams look to secure their spot in the final. The gold medal match, scheduled for October 1 at 1pm UTC+8 (1am ET), will shift to a best-of-seven format to determine the podium finishers.

Watching the Action

For fans following the bracket, all remaining matches are being broadcast live across the official MLBB Esports YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok channels. While Southeast Asian nations are widely viewed as the primary contenders due to their established professional scenes, the inclusion of teams like Kazakhstan, Jordan, and Mongolia highlights the expanding reach of the game’s competitive landscape. As the tournament reaches its conclusion, all eyes are on whether the expected favorites can hold their ground or if an underdog squad will pull off an upset to take home the inaugural Asian Games gold.
