The ID@Xbox team has unveiled its latest collection of Indie Selects for October 2026, featuring a diverse lineup of six titles ranging from intense dark fantasy combat to relaxing puzzle-based exploration. These curated selections are now available for players to discover through the Indie Select Hub on the Xbox Store.

A Diverse Selection of Indie Titles

This month’s list focuses on a mix of genres designed to cater to different playstyles. For those seeking a challenge, “Mortal Shell II” returns with a faster, more aggressive combat system that removes the traditional stamina gauge, encouraging players to stay on the offensive within an interconnected open world. On the tactical and macabre side, Edmund McMillen’s “Mewgenics” offers a deep roguelike RPG experience where players breed mutant cats and manage their attributes through randomized dungeon runs.

Fans of horror and action are represented by “The Sinking City 2,” a third-person Lovecraftian survival horror game set in a flooded 1929 Arkham. The title introduces unique enemy mechanics, specifically “Slither” parasites that can reanimate defeated corpses. Meanwhile, “Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game” delivers a 2D tag-team experience, allowing players to assemble dream teams of benders from the “Avatar: The Last Airbender” and “The Legend of Korra” series.

Rounding out the selection are two cozy titles: “Woodo,” a tactile puzzle game where players assemble handcrafted wooden dioramas to tell a story about friendship, and “Lou’s Lagoon,” a tropical exploration and crafting adventure that tasks players with reuniting islands using tools like gliders and seaplanes.

Why it matters

For players, the Indie Selects program serves as a recurring discovery tool to surface high-quality indie titles that might otherwise be buried in the massive Xbox storefront. By curating these specific themes and rotating them weekly in the Indie Select Hub, Xbox makes it easier for fans to find “hidden gems” and experiment with genres they might not typically play.

This month’s mix is particularly notable for its range; it bridges the gap between deep, time-intensive experiences like “Mewgenics” and “Mortal Shell II” and more relaxed, narrative-driven titles like “Woodo.” If you are looking for new ways to spend your gaming hours this month, checking the hub on Wednesdays is the best way to see the latest spotlights and thematic collections that the team is promoting. Players can find these titles and more information at the dedicated portal at xbox.com/IndieSelects.
