Remedy has officially hit a major milestone with its latest title, Control Resonant, which has surpassed one million copies sold. As reported by IGN, this achievement marks a significant speed record for the studio, with the game reaching this sales figure in just three weeks. This performance officially overtakes Alan Wake 2, which previously held the record by hitting the one-million mark two months post-launch.

A Strong Start Despite Challenges

Remedy celebrated the news on October 15 via social media, thanking the community for their support. Thomas Puha, Remedy’s communications director, acknowledged the milestone simply, stating, “There we go. Strong start.” The success is particularly notable given that the game faced early hurdles, including leaks and piracy shortly after its digital release in late September.

Despite those attempts to bypass the storefront, many players consciously chose to support the studio directly. Comments on various forums suggested that fans were motivated to purchase the game specifically to support the developer’s financial health, with some users stating they felt compelled to buy it to help keep the studio thriving. According to IGN’s review, which scored the game an 8/10, the title offers an inventive world and compelling atmosphere that resonates with players, effectively balancing paranatural mystery with grounded human storytelling.

Why it matters

For players, this record-breaking pace suggests that Remedy’s unique approach to game design continues to find a strong, dedicated audience. The commercial success of Control Resonant helps secure the studio’s future, ensuring they have the resources to continue developing the experimental titles they are known for, such as the Alan Wake series and the original Control.

While the digital version of the game has been available since September, the recent release of physical editions provides another avenue for players to pick up the game and support the developers. With the title now firmly established as their fastest-selling release, fans can likely expect continued momentum for the “Remedyverse,” especially as the studio looks to build upon this commercial win.
