If you are looking for a new way to test your friendships, Team Peak has confirmed that their co-op survival climbing game, Peak, is officially making its way to PlayStation 5 on October 22. As reported by the PlayStation Blog, the title is the result of a cross-studio collaboration between Aggro Crab, an American studio based in Seattle known for Another Crab’s Treasure and Going Under, and Landfall, a Swedish studio based in Stockholm known for games like Content Warning, Haste, Totally Accurate Battle Simulator, and Stick Fight: The Game. The studios, which formed Team Peak for this project, initially became friends after meeting at a developer conference in 2022.
The climb to development
The origins of the game are as collaborative as the gameplay itself. The project began as a one-month game jam in Seoul, South Korea, in February 2025. Three Aggro Crab developers and four Landfall developers locked themselves in a rented apartment, fueled by coffee and Korean BBQ, to build the game from scratch. The initial concept for the project had been discussed by the teams while sitting in a hot tub in Sweden several months prior to the jam. After the intensive development period in South Korea, the studios returned to their respective countries to focus on other projects, such as Landfall’s game Haste. They later reunited in Sweden during the Midsummer holiday to finalize the game.
In Peak, players take on the role of lost nature scouts who must scale a mountain at the center of a mysterious island to be rescued. The experience is designed to be played solo or with a group. Survival depends on scavenging for food and managing injuries, as every setback reduces a player’s stamina. Players will traverse four distinct biomes, each featuring unique, life-threatening hazards including tornadoes, birds, poison clouds, and zombies.
Why it matters
The PlayStation 5 release brings significant features to the community, most notably full crossplay support. This allows players to team up with up to three friends regardless of the platform they are using. The PS5 version includes all content updates, biomes, and items that the game has received since its initial launch. Mechanically, the game balances cooperation with potential chaos. While the developers emphasize that players should not abandon their friends, they have included custom run settings that allow groups to adjust the difficulty of their climb. For those who want to embrace the mischievous side of the experience, these custom settings also include the ability to physically kick your friends. Players can now gather their scout troops and prepare for the ascent when the game arrives on PS5 on October 22.
