In a massive marketing play ahead of the release of Avengers: Doomsday, Dave and Buster’s is undergoing a full thematic transformation. Starting November 16, the arcade chain is officially rebranding to “Doom & Buster’s,” turning its venues into immersive zones dedicated to the iconic Marvel villain. As reported by IGN, select locations have already begun rolling out “Doomsday Zones” featuring specialized activities, Marvel-themed prizes, and a revamped menu.
The Doomsday Experience
The centerpiece of this takeover is the arcade floor. Dave & Buster’s is bringing the arcade cabinet version of the beat-’em-up title Cosmic Invasion to its locations, which supports up to four players. This coincides with the launch of new DLC, “The Siege of Castle Doom,” arriving November 10. Beyond the games, the arcade has introduced a “DOOMHOUR” mechanic; when the alarm blares, players earn double tickets on green-swipe machines. Dave & Buster’s Rewards members receive a 24-hour notification before these events occur, while non-members must rely on catching the event live in-store.
According to Jeremy Tucker, chief marketing officer at Dave & Buster’s, the goal was to avoid traditional promotional posters in favor of a complete overhaul of the venue. “We gave Doom our name. We gave him the floor. We gave him the bar,” Tucker stated. This includes a new lineup of themed beverages, such as the “Doomsday’s Dominion” and “Multiversal Mule” for adults, alongside mocktails like “Panther’s Potion.”
Collectibles and Prizes
Visitors can expect new Marvel-specific inventory across the arcade. Crane games are being stocked with new inflatables, and the chain has introduced an Avengers-themed Funko pusher alongside kiosks offering Collectible Power Cards. These in-store activations aim to extend the cinematic experience of the upcoming film into a physical, interactive space, a move praised by Lylle Breier, EVP of Partnerships, Promotions and Events at The Walt Disney Studios, for its commitment to a “fan-first experience.”
Why it matters
For gamers and Marvel fans, this campaign represents a significant shift from standard movie tie-ins. By integrating specific DLC content with in-venue arcade cabinets and gamified rewards like “DOOMHOUR,” Dave & Buster’s is attempting to create a bridge between console gaming and the physical arcade experience.
Players should keep an eye on their local D&B locations starting November 16 to see if they are participating in the “Doom & Buster’s” conversion. Those looking to maximize their ticket hauls should consider signing up for the rewards program to receive the 24-hour heads-up on ticket-doubling events, as these “DOOMHOUR” windows are randomized for the general public.
