Stellar Blade Switch 2 Port Getting Frame Generation Toggle at Launch After Demo Feedback
Stellar Blade Complete Edition launches on Switch 2 on November 5 for $59.99 with a frame generation on/off toggle added after demo feedback.

Shift Up is adding an on/off toggle for frame generation to the Nintendo Switch 2 version of Stellar Blade at launch, responding to a key complaint about the game’s eShop demo. Stellar Blade: Complete Edition is set to launch on Switch 2 on November 5, 2026.
The demo problem
The Switch 2 demo drew criticism for its frame generation implementation. Players reported that it introduced noticeable input lag during combat, a serious issue in an action game built around precise parries, dodges and split-second timing. Shift Up announced on X that the full release will let players turn frame generation off entirely, so they can choose between smoother visuals and more responsive controls.
How frame generation works
Frame generation creates extra frames between the ones the console actually renders, which makes motion look smoother on screen. The trade-off is that the generated frames do not respond to player input, so the delay between pressing a button and seeing the result can increase. In slower games this may not matter much, but in a combat-focused title like Stellar Blade, many players prefer the lower latency of native frames. With the toggle, players get to decide which matters more to them. Shift Up has not published full details of every performance mode, such as target resolutions or frame rates in docked and handheld play.
Release date, price and editions
Stellar Blade: Complete Edition launches on November 5 at $59.99 digitally. A physical SteelBook edition is available for pre-order at $69.99. The physical release includes the full game on a 32GB cartridge rather than a Game-Key Card, which has been welcomed by collectors. Pre-orders include cosmetic items for the protagonist, EVE, and the Complete Edition includes four Bayonetta collaboration outfits, three of which have been revealed: Bayonetta, Nun and Jeanne.
The Switch 2 version arrives on the same day as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, making November 5 a busy date for Switch 2 owners.
About Stellar Blade
Developed by South Korean studio Shift Up, Stellar Blade first launched as a PlayStation 5 exclusive in April 2024 before arriving on PC in June 2025. It follows EVE on a mission to reclaim a ruined Earth, with fast, demanding combat that rewards timing and pattern recognition.
Why it matters
For Switch 2 owners, the toggle means they can play Stellar Blade the way they prefer, whether that is smoother motion or tighter controls. That choice matters most in handheld play, where expectations for performance are different from docked play on a TV.
It is also a good sign for Switch 2 ports more broadly. Frame generation is becoming a common tool for bringing demanding games to the console, and Shift Up’s response shows that demos and player feedback can lead to real changes before launch, which sets a useful precedent as the console’s library grows.
