Nintendo’s Japanese Zelda account has shared an extended gameplay clip of Goron City from the upcoming remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, showing a visually overhauled version of the mountain town where the Goron tribe lives. The remake launches exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026.
What the clip shows
The footage gives a detailed look at the remake’s version of Goron City, set inside the volcanic Death Mountain region. In the original game, Goron City is where young Link meets Darunia, the Goron leader, before heading into Dodongo’s Cavern to earn the Spiritual Stone of Fire, the Goron’s Ruby. It is one of the key early locations in the story.
Nintendo has been building anticipation with regular footage reveals, and each clip shows how familiar areas have been rebuilt with modern visuals while keeping their recognizable layouts.
Release date and platform
The Ocarina of Time remake was announced in a Nintendo Direct in June 2026 and is dated for November 5, 2026, on Nintendo Switch 2. Pre-orders are open through major retailers, and a Zelda-themed Switch 2 console has also been offered for pre-order. Pricing varies by region and retailer, so players should check their local eShop or store for final prices.
The game shares its launch day with Stellar Blade: Complete Edition on Switch 2, making early November a busy period for the console.
What’s new compared to the original
Ocarina of Time first launched on the Nintendo 64 in 1998 and was remade once before, as Ocarina of Time 3D for the Nintendo 3DS in 2011. The new version is a full remake for Switch 2 with rebuilt environments, characters and effects.
Nintendo has not yet detailed every change to gameplay or structure. The footage released so far suggests a faithful approach to level layouts and locations, but the full list of new features, quality-of-life changes and any additional content has not been confirmed. Players should look out for Nintendo’s official trailers and any dedicated Direct for more detail before launch.
Why it matters
Ocarina of Time is one of the most influential games ever made, and it introduced ideas such as Z-targeting that shaped 3D action games for decades. A full remake shows Nintendo’s confidence in rebuilding its classic library for new hardware.
For players who never experienced the original, the remake is an accessible way to play one of gaming’s landmark titles. For long-time fans, clips like Goron City are the best early indicator of how faithfully Nintendo is translating the 1998 original, and the November 5 date means the wait is now short.
