The Expanse Returns With Osiris Reborn, Four Years After Series Finale

The Expanse is coming back, this time as a video game. Four years after the TV series finale aired in early 2022, The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is bringing the sci-fi saga to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. It is an action role-playing game from Owlcat Games, made in partnership with Alcon Interactive Group, and it is due in spring 2027.

What Osiris Reborn is

Osiris Reborn is an original story set in the universe of The Expanse novels by Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck, the books that also inspired the TV adaptation. Rather than retelling the adventures of the Rocinante crew, the game puts players in command of the Pinkwater Security mercenary squad, controlling a space frigate and fighting for survival in outer space.

It was first revealed with a trailer at the Future Games Show on June 7, 2025. Owlcat has described a squad-based action RPG with companions, dialogue choices and romance options, and the game has drawn frequent comparisons to the Mass Effect series. Actors from the 2015 television series are set to reprise their roles, which gives the game a direct link to the show many fans know best.

Who is making it

Owlcat Games is best known for deep, choice-heavy RPGs such as Pathfinder: Kingmaker, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous and Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. Osiris Reborn is a shift toward a more action-focused, third-person style, but it keeps the studio’s focus on companions and branching decisions. Alcon, which produced the TV series, is involved through its interactive division.

Release window and platforms

The game is scheduled for spring 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. There is no exact date or price yet. Owlcat has also talked about a beta ahead of launch, so fans who want an early look should watch the official Osiris Reborn website and its Steam page, where the game can already be wishlisted.

Why fans care

The Expanse built a devoted following through its realistic take on space travel, detailed politics between Earth, Mars and the Belt, and memorable characters. The show was cancelled by Syfy after three seasons, rescued by Amazon, and ran for six seasons in total.
