Roblox is currently facing a surge of unauthorized game ports, as creators leverage AI-assisted tools to replicate high-profile titles with increasing precision. According to reporting from GosuGamers, this new trend goes beyond mere inspiration, involving the use of ripped assets and identical user interfaces to recreate games from major publishers like Valve, Bandai Namco, and SEGA.

The Scale of the Replications

These ports often mirror original titles in startling detail. Viral examples highlighted by GosuGamers include recreations of Elden Ring—complete with similar audio, environments, and combat mechanics—and Sonic Generations, which appeared on the platform in October. Other titles identified as being copied include Counter-Strike, Halo, Left 4 Dead 2, and various games featured on legacy console interfaces like the Xbox 360 and PlayStation. One developer, known as Sunny on X, claimed to have used AI-assisted tools to facilitate the porting of Sonic Generations, noting that they performed manual debugging to ensure the game functioned as intended. While some of these projects attract niche audiences, others find massive success; a Five Nights at Freddy’s port attributed to the same creator has reached over 4.7 million visits.

A Long-Standing Platform Challenge

Roblox has historically dealt with users cloning viral indie hits—such as Among Us or games like Meccha Chameleon—to capture traffic and potential revenue. However, the integration of AI has shifted the landscape from simple knock-offs to more complex, direct plagiarism of AAA intellectual property. While many of these AI-assisted ports are eventually removed following warnings or direct platform intervention, the speed at which they appear continues to challenge existing moderation efforts.

Why it matters

For players, this influx of cloned content creates a confusing ecosystem where it can be difficult to distinguish between original Roblox experiences and unauthorized replicas. While the platform has yet to publicly comment on this specific rise in AI-driven plagiarism, the removal of these titles is an ongoing process. Users should remain cautious of these ports, as they often rely on stolen assets and may be subject to sudden takedowns without warning. There is growing concern within the community regarding how effectively the platform can contain the spread of these unauthorized recreations.
