Capcom has announced a significant surge in its financial performance for the first half of the fiscal year, ending September 30, 2026. According to reporting by GamesIndustry.biz, the publisher saw broad gains across its portfolio, highlighted by a 67.5% increase in ordinary profit, reaching ¥61.2 billion ($387.2 million).

Growth Driven by Major Franchises

The company’s Digital Contents business served as the primary engine for this success, generating ¥85.1 billion ($538.4 million) in net sales—a 70.8% year-on-year increase. Total unit sales for the six-month period climbed to 36.86 million, a sharp rise from the 23.85 million units sold during the same period last year.

Capcom credits this performance to the strength of its core franchises. Resident Evil Requiem, which launched in February, has now surpassed eight million units sold, bolstered by sustained sales of Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 2. Newer titles also contributed significantly: the new franchise Pragmata sold over 2.7 million units since its April release, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword reached 1.7 million units following its September 4 debut.

Expansion and Esports Strategy

The company is also seeing movement in its catalog and upcoming releases. Monster Hunter titles saw a boost following the announcement of the Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion and confirmation of the series’ availability on the Nintendo Switch 2. Additionally, Capcom reported that Devil May Cry 5 has reached 14 million units, a milestone the company links to pricing strategies and the influence of the Netflix series. Moving forward, the company intends to increase focus on the synergy between its software releases and esports activities to continue expanding its global player base.

Why it matters

For players, these results highlight the ongoing health of major Capcom franchises and suggest that the publisher is successfully leveraging cross-media momentum, such as Netflix adaptations and new hardware rollouts like the Nintendo Switch 2, to drive player interest. The growth in catalog sales indicates that legacy titles remain a priority for the publisher.

While Capcom’s financial report does not provide specific details regarding regional pricing or Middle East-specific server support, the company’s stated goal of pursuing an “expanded user base” through increased brand recognition suggests a continued effort to reach a wider global audience. Players should keep an eye on how these financial successes influence upcoming support for future titles like Monster Hunter Wilds.
