The wait for Five Nights at Freddy’s in Fortnite is nearly over, and the community response has been nothing short of explosive. Following weeks of speculation, Epic Games officially confirmed on September 27 that FNAF characters are arriving in the battle royale as part of this year’s Fortnitemares Halloween event.
A Record-Breaking Reveal
The official announcement tweet, which featured a 40-second gameplay trailer, has sent shockwaves through the internet. According to data highlighted by creator HypeX, the post has become the most-liked tweet in Fortnite history. As of Monday morning, the announcement had garnered over 20 million views, 319,000 likes, and 65,000 retweets. The hype is so significant that it has outperformed even major announcements like Rockstar’s gameplay reveal for Grand Theft Auto 6, signaling a massive crossover event for the game.
Why Fans Are Excited
Within the Five Nights at Freddy’s community, the reception has been overwhelmingly positive. Many players have praised the character models shown in the trailer, with some fans suggesting these may be among the most detailed and accurate versions of the iconic animatronics ever produced.
Beyond the FNAF content, the October 1 update is stacking up to be a horror fan’s dream. Fortnite is also adding a lineup of iconic cinematic slashers to the mix, including Freddy Krueger, who will join existing in-game killers like Michael Myers, Leatherface, and Ghostface. Players can also expect additional Halloween-themed content inspired by the Purge films and Beetlejuice when the event kicks off at the start of next month.
