Chapter 10 of Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy contains an optional tomb puzzle that rewards players with the Xiphos blade—one of the game’s final collectible weapons. The puzzle sits well-hidden during the “In the Plunderers’ Wake” subchapter, easy enough to miss if you’re not exploring thoroughly.

Finding and Entering the Hidden Tomb

The tomb entrance lies downstream from the mountain entrance, tucked into a small cavern on the western side of the stream and obscured by vines and shrubbery. Once inside, Sophia will navigate down a pathway and grapple up to the puzzle area. From there, you’ll interact with the Sphere pedestal to begin.

The puzzle setup requires you to align colored rays with matching gemstones. When you first reach the top, you’ll notice the blue gemstone is missing—break the two grouped pots near the ox monument to reveal it. Climb to the highlighted platform; this position gives you the best angle to manipulate your Sphere’s tri-colored rays. Aim the green ray at the green gemstone, then rotate the other rays until all three gemstones are properly illuminated. Successfully aligning them opens a hatch door marked with an axe sigil at the monument’s base. Head inside the crypt and open the tomb to claim the Xiphos.

What the Xiphos Offers

The Xiphos functions differently from other blades in the game. It inflicts increased stun damage when parrying attacks, giving it a particular edge in defensive situations. However, this power comes with a trade-off: Sophia cannot block attacks while wielding it, making it a pure offensive tool that demands more aggressive play.

Why Optional Collectibles Matter

Blade collectibles in A Plague Tale games reward dedicated exploration and puzzle-solving. These weapons add variety to combat approaches and give completionists tangible goals beyond the main story. The Xiphos being one of the final blades underscores how the game layers optional content throughout its chapters, encouraging players to explore environments thoroughly. The puzzle design itself—using the Sphere mechanic and environmental observation—fits the game’s established toolset, making it feel natural rather than arbitrary.

For players seeking to experience everything Resonance offers, tracking down these hidden tombs becomes part of the broader discovery loop. The trade-off mechanics on weapons like the Xiphos also signal that the game respects player choice in how they approach combat.

What’s Next

Players wrapping up Chapter 10 should keep an eye out for any remaining exploration opportunities in earlier chapters, as other tombs with similar puzzle designs exist throughout the game. Those pursuing full completion will want to note the Xiphos’s playstyle before committing it to their loadout.
